How to Make Simple but Beautiful Map Roses

When you finish gluing the flower together on the wire, one way to keep it extra secure is to slide an additional bead on one half of the open wire ends, then twist the other wire strand around to secure it.

Begin adding bracts as shown, using a small amount of floral tape to secure to the main stem. On the first layer I like to put down a strip of glue on the base, then reinforce by tapping down the petal.

Repeat all the steps above for the medium and small petal. You can also gently stretch the outer edges of the bracts in a few places it will ruffle slightly to create a sense of movement. Gather the pieces together and secure with a small amount of floral tape. Use the cement cups as a base and mold the wire into stems.

To remove any glue strings blow over the flower with a hair dryer until the strings disappear. Add a little bit of glue to one flap and overlap the other.

Crepe paper — Peach paper is from Paper Mart. When you place the first petal remember to hug the center circle guide. Remember to protect your hands with gloves! You can use any paper you like — I used a very simple splash of watercolour in the center of these sheets for some colour, but you could try sheet music, wrapping paper, book pages, origami paper, newsprint, and more!
